To help operators understand DJI’s next-generation heavy-lift platform, we’ve released a comparison guide that puts the Matrice 400 alongside the Matrice 350.
The DJI Matrice 400 is the latest heavy-lift enterprise drone from DJI, featuring a maximum payload capacity of 6kg, a 59-minute flight time, enhanced safety features, and broader payload compatibility than ever before.
The Matrice 400 (M400) a clear step up from the now 9 year old Matrice 600 and even the more recent Matrice 350, but how does it compare against both? And more importantly, is it worth the upgrade?

The DJI Matrice 400 has received a payload capacity bump to 6kg, an increase over the Matrice 350's 2.7kg maximum payload capacity, matching it to the much older DJI Matrice 600. This increased payload weight allows the M400 to carry larger payloads, including a wider range of LiDAR sensors.
DJI has also increased the maximum number of payloads to 7 from the previous 3 the M350 supported. This allows for more flexible payload combinations, such as combining a Zenmuse H30T with a Zenmuse S1 spotlight and Zenmuse V1 speaker.
The Matrice 400 supports the following first-party payloads:

The M400 has jumped up to 59 minutes* of flight time over the Matrice 350's 55 minutes of flight time with no payload and the Matrice 600's 16-minute flight time with a 6kg payload. This is a significant upgrade over the previous enterprise models from DJI and should provide users with the choice of longer flight times with the same payloads or larger payloads with a similar flight time.
The DJI Matrice 400 is compatible with an optional TB100C battery, which is designed to work specifically with tether systems. This tethered flight option will allow for much longer static flights for things like security, search and rescue, and monitoring.
*with a Zenmuse H30T mounted.

DJI has given the M400 a safety boost with the inclusion of built-in LiDAR & mmWave radar to aid in obstacle sensing. This LiDAR tech was first introduced with the smaller Matrice 4D series as an optional accessory and allows for the sensing of 12mm wires and an improvement to sensing in low-light operations.
